Houseplant 101

House plants - our favorite way to add more character & love inside your home. Not only are they beautiful, they also have major benefits! NASA research revealed that houseplants can remove up to 87% of air toxins in 24 hours. They have been proven to increase productivity by 15%, reduce stress and boost your mood!

Not all plants are easy to care for, here's 10 of our favorite plants that are easy to keep alive:

1. ALOE

This succulent is one of the easiest to keep alive - and it's also a medical benefit to keep around the house! Tear off a piece and rub on a burn for instant relief!

HOW OFTEN TO WATER:

Every 3 weeks and even more sparingly in the winter. Water just enough to wet the soil.

2. SNAKE PLANT

These are probably one of the EASIEST plants to keep alive. They actually thrive on neglect and can survive in any light condition, including low light.

HOW OFTEN TO WATER:

Water when soil is dry. Keep in mind these can survive through a drought!

3. DRACAENA

This foliage plant is simple to keep alive and can survive with little to low light.

HOW OFTEN TO WATER:

Too little water is better than too much. Watering once a week is typically just enough!

4. ARROWHEAD VINE

This plant does well in either low or artificial light so it's the perfect plant to place in rooms where there's little to no natural light. You can train the vines to go in an upwards or let them fall naturally.

HOW OFTEN TO WATER:

The arrowhead vine will droop when it's in need of water. To avoid this - mist once a day.

5. TRADESCANTIA

These beautiful multi colored plants need bright light to maintain the bright colors so it's best to keep them near windows.

HOW OFTEN TO WATER:

During the summer water once a week. In the winter months they need less water - twice a month is enough.

6. SPIDER PLANT

This plant looks beautiful in a hanging planter or in a pot. The tips of it's leaves will often turn brown from over/under watering - trim them as needed!

HOW OFTEN TO WATER:

Watering moderately or once per week during the first year should be sufficient to keep the soil consistently moist, but not overly wet.

7. PHILODENDRON

Otherwise known as the heartleaf, the Philodendron is one of the easiest plants to care for indoors. It can survive in any lighting. Because it can survive so well in low lighting, it's perfect for the top's of your bookshelves.

HOW OFTEN TO WATER:

When trying to grow the heartleaf, be sure to not let the top inch of the soil to dry. If you're just trying to maintain the size, water biweekly.

Run out and grab these plants ASAP and make your home look like your own little jungle. We hope it helps increase your productivity & makes your home a little more beautiful!
